Chronic Low Back Pain

General Qualifications:

-  Age 18 years or older
-  Moderate to severe, chronic low back pain (lasting at least several hours daily) as the primary pain condition for at least 3 months prior
-  Currently taking prescription pain medication for back pain for at least 4 weeks prior 

General Conditions that may Prohibit Study Participation:

-  Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding
-  Subjects with pseudogout, psoriatic arthritis, active Lyme disease, rheumatic arthritis or other inflammatory arthritis or neuropathic pain conditions
-  History of malignant cancer in the past 2 years except basal cell carcinoma that has been successfully treated
-  Subjects with a history of opioid, alcohol, medication or illicit drug abuse or addiction
-  Certain heart, liver, lung or kidney diseases
-  Subjects with current uncontrolled depression or other uncontrolled psychiatric disorder (subjects with controlled depresssion or other psychiatric disorder must be on stable medication for at least 1 month prior to the screening visit
-  Subjects with an ongoing Workman’s Compensation claim and/or litigation related to their low back pain
-  Subjects who have received investigational within 30 days of the first dose of study drug

Gout

General qualifications: 

-  Diagnosis of gout
-  Male age 50 or older
-  Female age 55 or older
-  History of major cardiovascular disease or cerebrovascular disease including at least one of the following:
             - Heart attack
             - Hospitalized unstable angina
             – Cardiac or cerebrovascular revascularization procedure
             - Stroke
             - Hospitalized TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack - ”Mini Stroke”)
             - Peripheral vascular disease
             – Diabetes Mellitus with evidence of micro- or macrovascular disease
                (retinopathy,  neuropathy, nephropathy, small vessel vascular disease) 

General conditions that may prohibit study participation:

-  Active peptic ulcer disease  
-  History of drug or alcohol abuse within the past 5 years or consumes > 14 alcholic drinks per week
-  History of cancer in the past 5 years (not including certain skin cancers)
-  Has had a heart attack or stroke within the last 60 days
-  A known history of infection with Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C or Human Immunodeficieny Virus (HIV)
-  Use of other investigational medication in the past 30 days

COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)

General Qualifications:

-  Age 40 years or older
-  Current or former smoker
-  Diagnosis of COPD

General Conditions that may Prohibit Study Participation:

-  Patients who have been hospitalized for COPD within the past 3 months
-  Any respiratory tract infection or COPD exacerbation within the last 6 weeks
-  Patients with any clinically significant respiratory conditions other than COPD
-  Chronic use of oxygen therapy more than 15 hours a day
-  Patients with certain heart conditions
-  Patients with HIV, active hepatitis and/or active tuberculosis
-  History of drug or alcohol abuse withing the past 5 years
-  Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding
-  Current diagnosis of cancer other than basal or squamous cell skin cancer
-  Subjects treated with any investigational drug within the last 30 days
-  Subjects with a current diagnosis of cancer other than basal or squamous cell skin cancer

Opioid Induced Constipation

General Qualifications:

-  Age 18 years or older
-  Moderate to severe, chronic low back pain (lasting at least several hours daily) as the primary pain condition for at least 3 months prior
-  Currently taking prescription pain medication for back pain for at least 4 weeks prior 
-  Opioid Induced Constipation                               

General Conditions that may Prohibit Study Participation:

-  Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding
-  Subjects with pseudogout, psoriatic arthritis, active Lyme disease, rheumatic arthritis or other inflammatory arthritis or neuropathic pain conditions

High Cholesterol

General Qualifications:

-  Age 18 years or older
-  Triglyceride level of 200 or more
-  Heart disease or risk of heart disease
-  Taking a cholesterol lowering medication

General Conditions that may Prohibit Study Participation:

-  Use of certain prescription anticoagulants (blood thinners)
-  History of pancreatitis
-  Type 1 Diabetes, use of insulin or glycohemoglobin A1C over 10%
-  History of cancer, except certain skin and cervical cancers
-  Certain liver, heart, lung or kidney diseases
-  Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding

Hypertension with Diabetes

General Qualifications

-  Type 2 Diabetes
-  Glycohemoglobin A1C over 7%
-  Hypertension
-  Age 18-89 years

General Conditions that may Prohibit Study Participation:

-  Type 1 Diabetes
-  History of heart attack in the past 6 months
-  History of Gout
-  History of chronic or unstable heart, kidney or liver disease
-  Pregnant or lactating women
-  History of bariatric surgery or lap-band procedure

Fibromyalgia for Adolescents

STUDY NAME : FIBROMYALGIA FOR ADOLESCENTS

General qualifications: 

-  Diagnosis or symptoms of fibromyalgia
-  Male or Female
-  Age 13-17 years old  
- Willing to withdraw from certain excluded medications

-General conditions that may prohibit study participation:

-  Severe psychiatric illness, current major depressive episode, significant suicide risk,bipolar disorder, manic episode
-  Serious or unstable heart, liver, kidney, lung or other conditions that may lead to hospitalization
-  Pregnant or lactating women

Diabetes

STUDY NAME : TYPE 2 DIABETES

General qualifications: 

-  Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
-  Male or Female
-  Age 18-75 years
-  Hemoglobin A1C results of 7 or higher
-  Currently taking Metformin

General conditions that may prohibit study participation:

-  History of Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus
-  Use of Insulin
-  Serious or unstable heart, liver, kidney, lung or other conditions that may lead to hospitalization
-  Pregnant or lactating women
