General qualifications:

-  Male or Female 18 to 85 years of age
-  History or presence of gout

General conditions that may prohibit study participation:

-  Active peptic ulcer disease
-  History of cancer, other than basal cell, within the past 5 years
-  Rheumatoid arthritis requiring treatment
-  Alcohol or drug abuse within the last five years
