There are a
variety of reasons why people decide to participate
in a clinical drug trial. Many times these trials
offer promising new drugs to patients long before
they are available to the general public. Sometimes
the drugs are lifesaving in that no current therapies
treat or cure a specific disease or ailment. Other
times the drugs are improvements of therapies that
are currently available in the marketplace. For instance,
a drug that must only be taken once daily is preferred
over an equivalent drug that must be taken three times
per day. Or a new drug with the same benefits but
fewer side effects would be preferred over an existing
drug treating the same disease. Regardless of the
type of study, there is one thing identical for all
studies conducted at Willamette Valley Clinical Studies
; patients receive excellent care from the physicians
and study coordinators during the course of participating
in a clinical drug study.
